It’s safe to say that everyone has a must-have burger at McDonald’s UAE.
Mine is the Double Cheeseburger. This is my favorite naughty treat. I actually only get the Double Cheeseburger, so it’s rare that I venture outside of this burger safe zone that I’ve created for myself.
I’ve always seen it as a good thing to know what you want, but it could potentially stop you from trying something different or realizing that other burgers are just as delicious.
So I went to my nearest McDonald’s on a random Thursday afternoon, delighted to rediscover the five classic burgers remastered in one go.
McDonald’s UAE is shaking things up a bit by tweaking and remastering the way it cooks and serves five of its classic burgers.
This includes the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Double Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, and Beefburger. While the changes might not be very noticeable at first glance, they made the burger experience better.
What makes a great burger tends to focus on the basic ingredient first – the burger patty itself. The other components of a good burger are the buns, the condiments and finally the cheese.
Hotter. Juicier. More tasty.
Here, I break down exactly how McDonald’s UAE made small changes to create a big difference in taste.
The heart of every burger is the patty. McDonald’s in the United Arab Emirates has kept its 100% pure halal beef patties as they are. Juicy as always and the star of the McDonald’s burger. The patty is extra hot and chewy, giving the burger a perfectly seasoned finish.
If you’re a big meat eater, then your go-to should, of course, be Quarter Pounder with Cheese, which, as the name suggests, is made with a quarter pound more beef than your average burger. In this particular sandwich, the galette dominates with its pan-seared and seasoned beef. Plus, if you like onions, you’re in for a treat.
For me, a very important aspect of a burger is the bun. The new remastered bun is smoother, freshly toasted, and has a darker golden brown color with a hint of frosting. The bun is so important for the execution of a burger. Buns tend to play a major role in the popularity of burgers. And while you might not notice it immediately, the next time you bite into your McDonald’s burger, pay attention to the color and frosting of the new bread.
The sesame sprinkled bun on the Big Mac and the Quarter Pounder with cheese also had a woody, toasty flavor, which enhanced the experience.
I can never eat a burger without cheese. Cheese is an important part of a hamburger. And when it comes to a good old-fashioned classic cheeseburger, incorporating creamy cheese is the path that is close to my heart.
McDonald’s UAE cheese is extra soft due to its position between the bread and the pancake. It melts when it touches the hot bread and falls in the corners on the juicy pancake. To really get a great bite of cheese, order the Double Cheeseburger for that extra dose of cheese, or any of the remastered burgers, except the Beef Burger, for obvious reasons.
Onion is one of the most revisited ingredients in classic McDonald’s burgers. Newly moderately caramelized onions are now added to the grill for that extra flavor and a hint of sweetness. They really improve any burgers you bite into. Caramelized onions encompass a lot of flavor for a very simple ingredient.
All of the remastered classics have the perfect combination of condiments to help deliver that umami flavor. The tangy and sweet ketchup, the noticeably sour bite of the dill pickle and mustard to top it off.
